F.A.Q.

  1. What does it mean that we have open calls?

It means we have written “ competition announcements”, but these are not competitions — they are calls (calls for bids). You can respond to the calls by sending your contribution (a text, an illustration, a photograph, a recipe, a thought, a phrase — whatever you like) related to one of the four proposed themes.

We hope the project will continue, and in the future, we will open new calls.

  2. I’d like to take part in the project, but with something that doesn’t fit any of the themes proposed in the current open calls. Can I still participate?

Sure! If you want to publish something with us that you’ve written, drawn, photographed, cooked, or thought about but doesn’t align with the four themes proposed in our calls, send it anyway! We’ll find a place for it.

  3. Can I participate anonymously?

Of course! You can choose to publish anonymously or use a pseudonym, and we’ll ensure your privacy is protected.

  4. Where will the works be published, and in what format?

The works we receive will be compiled into a collective publication (we like to call it a fanzine, even though it might be larger than what is traditionally considered a fanzine) that will bring all your works together in a single volume.

Each of the four volumes (one for each proposed theme) will be available for free download as a PDF from our website.

  5. Will I receive payment, or will I need to pay anything for publication?

No, participants in the project will not receive any compensation, but they also won’t need to pay anything. The publication will be in digital format, and downloading it will be free of charge.

If the Zattere group decides to print physical versions, the costs will be covered by the collective or potentially through crowdfunding campaigns. Even in this case, however, we won’t be able to guarantee any payment to participants. Any proceeds from the sale of printed volumes will be used to offset the expenses incurred for printing.

  6. When is the publication planned?

Once the call closes (the deadline is March 1st, 2025, though this may be extended), we’ll proceed with evaluating the contributions received. Afterward, we’ll work on graphic design and layout. Most likely, the volumes will be ready by early summer 2025.

  7. I don’t have any contributions to submit for the calls, but I’d like to join the collective. Can I?

Absolutely! We want to keep growing and launching many new initiatives beyond the aforementioned calls. Would you like to manage social media? Write articles for our blog? Do you have a project in mind that you’d like to develop with us? Reach out! We’re open to welcoming new members into the collective so we can float together.

    Note:

In the text of the call and the release form — which you can download at the bottom of each call page—you’ll find additional information about participation.
